The triumphant run of Mohun Bagan in the recent I-League season had not only sent fans in a state of ecstacy but also impressed pundits and fans all over the country. Many of the players earned plaudits from their viewers, including the likes of Nongdamba Naorem, VP Suhair, Fran Morante and many others. But even after the successful campaign, Mohun Bagan still have some serious problems which need to be looked at.
A few months back, ISL champions ATK had announced the merger of the Oldest Club of India with ATK, which would play in the ISL henceforth. Virtually, this means that the almost half of the players from both the teams combined will have to be shown the door. The domination of ATK in the ISL has made everyone wonder if the majority of Mohun Bagan players will even get a chance to play for the new entity.
Here we discuss 5 such players from Mohun Bagan who are almost likely to shift bases and don the jersey of another club.

#5. VP Suhair

VP Suhair

VP Suhair started the season with a bang, as he helped Mohun Bagan to reach the final of the Durand Cup by netting in two goals in the stoppage time of the semi-final against Real Kashmir. He was then a core part of the team which lifted the won the I-league too. He played 16 games, scoring twice and assisting twice as well. He played as a forward and occasionally in the right wing as well. He played for East Bengal before signing for Mohun Bagan, and he is expected to make the move to East Bengal again.
Reports have emerged stating that Suhair is moving to East Bengal, which could prove to be a good move for both, the club and the man from Kerala.

#4. Dhanachandra Singh

Dhanachandra Singh

Dhanachandra Singh is no stranger to winning titles with Mohun Bagan. He was there when they won it in 2014-15 and was also there when they beat Aizawl FC to win the I-league in 2019-20 as well. And to make things even better for Dhanachandra, he wore the captain’s armband this time around when Mohun Bagan won against Aizawl FC to virtually win the championship. He played as a centre-back primarily and was an important part of their back 4. Dhanachandra is also reportedly been offered contracts by some ISL clubs and the Manipuri defender is likely to make the move. He is no stranger to the Indian Super League though. He has represented Chennaiyin FC from 2014 to 2016 and also played for Jamshedpur FC in 2018-19 before signing for Mohun Bagan.

#3. Fran Morante

Fran Morante

Fran Morante was signed by Mohun Bagan after he had spent numerous years plying his trade in Spain. The 27-year old played 33 matches for Bagan and was an integral part of their set-up. After he helped his team win the championship, he is now attracting interest from some of the other Indian clubs. Morante had a contract of just one year, and it is reported that he has offers from several ISL clubs. Given how lucrative ISL offers have been in the past, Morante is expected to make the switch for the next season.
