The new season started with delightful news and celebrations all over for the East Bengal fans, with their entry in to the Indian Super League which ofcourse lasted only till the tournament began.
It has been a surprise yet expected downfall, for their team in the season so far. With 2 points in 6 matches, including 2 draws and 4 losses, SC East Bengal are at the bottom of the league table with disappointment taking over their humongous fan base.
But, to much relief of many, it’s December 24th already and it’s just a few days remaining for the transfer market to open. According to experts, critics, fans and even coaches, the selection of players has been one of the major issues behind the team’s poor performance.
With 1 match remaining, before 2020 ends, this might just be their opportunity to turn things around with a few changes in their squad. With top quality foreigners like Maghoma, and Stienmann all East Bengal needs at the moment is proper Indian players for the weaker positions.
Talking about Indian players, with 11 Teams in ISL but increasing Indian talents it has been a season where players like even Adil Khan or Dheeraj Moirangthem haven’t made it through to the first 11 of their teams. But we all know how good these players are.
So let’s have a look at certain players SC East Bengal should target in this January Transfer Window.
1. ADIL KHAN:
As we just said about, Adil Khan at this moment can be the most required and effective player for SC East Bengal. A leader at the back who can play center back and a Central Defensive Midfielder is surely something that would give a major boost to the team because conceding goals has been a real issue so far for East Bengal. Not to forget that Adil Khan of course is an Indian International, and with the amount of experience he brings in with himself along with his abilities to score crucial goals, he is not surely the one you would like to see on the sideline.
2. RAKESH PRADHAN:
This youngster, though not in the limelight this season, but had been a very crucial player for North East United, in their previous season. Playing at left back position, the former Shillong Lajong man, is one of the promising youngsters the Nation might be looking up to and so should East Bengal. Given their lack of proper side backs in the team, Rakesh would be a major boost for the team with his solid defensive qualities along with his ability to make overlapping runs with proper crossing into the box, which surely any striker would love to have.
3. BORIS SINGH:
One of the most promising right backs in recent times Boris has been absolutely shut off from action since he has joined ATK Mohun Bagan. It has been a while now that we are missing his wonderful gameplay with some crazy tricks and skills and loads of confidence which we have recently seen from his former team mate Asish Rai, who ofcourse is being given plenty of game time at Hyderabad.
Not to blame the club though because Prabir Das and Pritam Kotal have been performing ever so well for ATKMB, but it is high time for Boris to get some game time under his belt and it might also be high time for East Bengal to find a proper right back which we didn’t see on pitch in all 6 of their matches. It would be a great deal and a great thing for both the player and the club.
4. Komal Thatal:
The Neymar of India, the skill star, or the golden boy. Names had been flowing once people saw this young boy from Sikkim few years back. Not only is he highly praised for his skills, but he has a tremendous nac of scoring goals which he did not only against Bengaluru FC in a chance he was given a season or 2 ago, beating Gurpreet Singh Sandhu with a sweet swing of his foot, but also scored a wonderful goal against mighty Brazil in their preparation for the U17 World Cup.
It has been a massive surprise to see Komal being on bench for such a long time, and is one of the players that might just be seeking for redemption and might be the man to bring out East Bengal from their troublesome position in the league table. Well who knew a 16 year old Baichung Bhutia or a 16 year old Sunil Chhetri would lead their teams to glory. It’s not always about the experience, but sometimes about the quality of the player aswell.
Given the quality of Komal this might be the chance for him and East Bengal to show the country what they were being deprived from.
5. Laldanmawia Ralte:
Last but not the least, the former Aizawl FC star who had also been a star for East Bengal, Laldanmawia Ralte or just Danmawia as they liked to call him, has surely been missing home for a while now and so has his team and fans been missing him.
It might just be the apt time for Danmawia to return to the colours of Red and Gold, because East Bengal needs some fire and Danmawia surely needs some game time with the potential he holds. From making numerous assists, to scoring goals Ralte had been on top form for East Bengal, but since his arrival at Hyderabad he has been quite silent so far.
East Bengal should surely make an attempt to bring their former man back and change up the calculations real quick.
That’s the top 5 players, who according to us should be aimed by East Bengal without delay, as soon as the transfer window opens. A few other players we would have liked to mention would be Edmund Lalrindika, Sourav Das, Isak Vanlalruatfela, but these players would have a little less chance of moving out at the moment and hence here’s our top 5 players which East Bengal should look to sign in the January transfer window.
