All India Football Federation (AIFF) has unveiled the logo and official bid-book for AFC Asian Cup 2027, in an exclusive conference. If the bid is granted, it will be 4th huge footballing tournament in India over a span of 10 years.
India has successfully hosted the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017 and about to organise FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2021 (initially scheduled for 2020) and AFC Women’s Asian Cup in 2022.
The blue tigers had qualified to play in the last Asia Cup held at U.A.E. and now are locked to the qualifiers of the next edition which is about to take place in China, 2023. Till now the best record for India in this competition is becoming runners-up in 1964.
On 5th June 2019, the All India Football Federation President, Praful Patel expressed India’s interest to join the bid for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. On 5 April 2020, India submitted its bid documents for hosting the AFC Asian Cup in 2027, a high authority official of the national federation confirmed. If selected, it will mark the first time the tournament will be hosted in India.
In an exclusively arranged conference chaired by the likes of Mr. Praful Patel and Mr. Kiren Rijiju, hon’ble minister of state, sports and youth affairs, India; the logo for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 was unveiled while the programme was streamed across Facebook and Instagram where thousands of fans connected. Young footballer Shubho Paul and the captain of women’s national team Ms. Ashalata Devi along with former player Moirangthem Gouramangi Singh were also present on the stage.
The logo features a tiger which symbolises the national animal of the country as well as the nickname of the National team, whereas the tagline has been stated: “Brighter future together.” The bidding results are scheduled to be declared at the AFC Extraordinary Congress in June 2021.
