After poor string of performances from goalkeepers in the last season, Kerala Blasters have roped in Albino Gomes from Odisha FC.
The Goan born goalkeeper started his youth career at Salgaocar and made his professional debut against Shillong Lajong in the I League. In the 2015 ISL draft, Mumbai City FC picked him. His debut for the club came in the Maharashtra derby. Although he failed to get playing time for the Islanders.
Albino had a brilliant season for Aizawl FC in 2017. It was dream come true for the team from Mizoram who shocked everyone by winning the I League title. They were the first team from Northeast to do so. He was part of this fairy tale. He was a crucial player for Khalid Jamal’s team. After winning the I League, he signed for Delhi Dynamos. Due to presence of Francisco Dorronsoro at the poles, Albino had limited opportunities. Same story continued at Odisha FC.
At Kerala Blasters, Albino will be hoping to get proper playing time to revive his career. At 26, He still has time to prove his talent. Kerala Blasters have strengthened their defense with the addition of Albino. As per reports, Kerala Blasters have snapped up Prabhusukhan Gill from Bengaluru FC. It will be interesting to see who will be their first choice goalkeeper.
