IFTWC can confirm that Aniket Jadhav is in advanced talks with East Bengal for a transfer from Hyderabad FC. Jadhav has been exploring the option of a move away from Hyderabad for the past two months and East Bengal is now in talks with the forward to bring him to the Salt Lake Stadium.
Aniket had joined Hyderabad last year with the intent of taking Liston Colaco’s place in the team. Jadhav featured in seventeen games for the Nizams, starting in twelve of them. Besides his two goals, he also contributed three assists. Under Manolo Marquez, Jadhav and Hyderabad made it to the Indian Super League final for the first time and subsequently took home the title. The 22-year-old played on the left flank for Hyderabad.
At the age of 18, Aniket had just graduated from the AIFF Elite to the Indian Arrows when he was signed by Jamshedpur FC. Before joining The Red Miners, he spent a year on loan at the Arrows. Jadhav made 27 appearances in the Jamshedpur FC shirt, starting eleven games. Notably, he spent most of those years playing on the right wing.
Aniket rose to prominence after the 2017 U17 World Cup in India, following which the developmental side of AIFF, Indian Arrows, signed him up. Jadhav has also received two senior national team call-ups from Igor Stimac. In both the games, he appeared as a sub.
Later this month, East Bengal will begin its Durand Cup campaign, and they face a race against time to assemble a strong squad. It is still unclear which of the many players who have been linked to them over the past few days will actually be confirmed. Bino George and Stephen Constantine were previously named as the team’s new assistant manager and head coach respectively.
