Anthony Stokes, the Irishman who was a part of the Persepolis side in the Gulf Pro League last season is rumored to be on ATK Mohun Bagan’s radar. The 32 year old striker has a fine record in the Scottish Premiership as he has plied his trade for the Celtics and Hibernian, cumulatively for over 7 years with almost 200 appearances to his name.
Speaking of his recent form, Stokes played just a single game for Persepolis, the team which eventually went on to win the Gulf pro league Title. The striker has been looking out for greener pastures in Asia since the past couple of seasons. According to reports, ATK Mohun Bagan FC are very keen to secure his signatures on the documents.
Anthony Stokes might be on his way to Kolkata:
ATK Mohun Bagan has already stacked up its Foreign contingent with nearly 6 of the prescribed 7 foreigners retained by the club. The likes of Roy Krishna, David Williams have been in tremendous form and the coach Antonio Habas will surely look forward to carry this further into the next season as ATK Mohun Bagan will be trotting its way up in the AFC Cup. With the continental challenge topping their to-do list, the team will also look upto keep its dominance intact in the Indian Super League.
The striker has also grabbed interest from East Killbride FC which plays in the Fifth tier Scottish league. It is also said that the Kolkata based club is a step ahead as his move to the fifth tier is very unlikely.
Another worthy mention is the fact that Anthony Stokes has also played under Coach Owen Coyle back in 2016-17 for the Blackburn Rovers. It would be interesting to see, if Jamshedpur FC would jump into the mix to grab the opportunity with Owen Coyle at the helm.
