ISL – ATK Mohun Bagan sign Finland international Joni Kauko

-

ATK Mohun Bagan signs Joni Kauko for the 8th iteration of ISL. The player is a Finnish midfielder and has featured in the UEFA EURO 2020.

Joni Kauko will be an added force to a strong ATK Mohun Bagan midfield that is donned by Edu Garcia and Carl McHugh. David Williams also featured as a midfielder several times for ATK Mohun Bagan in the last season and the arrival of Joni Kauko would help Williams and Krishna continue their scoring partnership.

As the 30-year-old midfielder has had experience in playing the UEFA EURO 2020, his move will also be beneficial for the Kolkata outfit as they will be playing in the AFC Cup.

Joni Kauko started his career at the age of 17 with Inter Turku and has went on to feature for clubs such as FSV Frankfurt, Esbjerg, Randers and so on. He has also plied his trade for the Finland u16, u18, u19, and u21 teams and currently plays for their senior team.

ATK Mohun Bagan have officially parted ways with Javi Hernandez, a player who scored a brace against Chennaiyin FC in 2020 Final. Joni Kauko will be a big addition to the Mariners in their quest of winning the Indian Super League. The Mariners have already extended their star striker Roy Krishna’s contract and have signed big Indian players like Amrinder Singh, Deepak Tangri and Liston Colaco.
