Gursimrat Singh Gill is set for a return back to the ISL, with ATK Mohun Bagan being his next destination after spending a year with Sudeva Delhi FC in the I-League.
Bengaluru FC had signed the 23-year-old as a young prospect back in 2016 after he graduated from the AIFF Elite Academy. Gill, however, was released from the Blues the following year, and signed for Northeast United FC before rejoining Bengaluru FC again in 2018.
The defender parted ways with Bengaluru last year to join fellow Karnataka based club Bengaluru United FC for the I-League Qualifiers. Following his short stint with FCBU, Gill joined Sudeva Delhi FC and enjoyed a good I-League campaign last season. Sudeva relied heavily on him at the back, as he featured in almost every game for them.
The youngster has been granted another opportunity to demonstrate his worth at the top level by ATK Mohun Bagan, and the Green and Maroon will expect him to repay the trust that they have placed in him through his performances on the field. Gursimrat Singh Gill was also the vice-captain of the Indian National Team which took part in the SAFF U-19 Championship in 2015.
As a result of the departure of Sandesh Jhingan, ATK Mohun Bagan were in the market for a defender and now they have finally managed to sign one. Gursimrat’s signing has been completed just in time for the October 29th squad registration deadline. ATK Mohun Bagan’s defensive issues were evident in the AFC Cup, but they hope to address them with the signing of Gursimrat and the return of Spanish defender Tiri. Kerala Blasters will host The Mariners on the opening day of the ISL season on November 19.
