Hero ISL started in 2014 and has never looked back then. In these 6 seasons, We have seen many top-quality strikers and some net shakers as well. In our series of top scorers of ISL clubs in each season, We have the three-time champions ATK FC on the list now. 

Fikru Teferra – 2014 


This was the first season of Indian Super League and Kolkata based franchise got hands on the trophy in the inaugural edition of the competition. They brought in former Liverpool legend Luis Garcia and ex-Real Madrid midfielder Borja Fernandez in the very first season. On 12th October 2014, Hero Indian Super League started its journey with the aim to uplift Indian football culture and bring in professionalism. Football Sports Development Limited co-owner Mrs.Nita Ambani started the league with a slogan of “Let’s Football”. In the inaugural match of Hero Indian Super League, Atletico De Kolkata thrashed Mumbai City FC by three goals where their highest goal-scorer of the season, Fikru Teferra scored the first goal of the tournament. 

Fikru Teferra Lemessa has represented Ethiopian national team thirty times in his career, he also captained the Ethiopian national football team that participated in the 2012 CECAFA Cup. He opened the scoring in both the matches, then he later got involved in a fight with Gregory Arnolin against FC Goa, he got banned from the committee and then he had a fight with the coach after that he was being sidelined in most of the matches but still ended up as the highest goalscorer. He was being released ahead of the final against Kerala Blasters FC due to a hamstring injury. He was signed by Chennaiyin FC in the next edition, he ended up winning another title with them.
