ATKMB look to redeem themselves as they take on Bengaluru FC today in a battle to reclaim their status as previous season’s title contenders who lost out on silverware only by a whisker.
Both teams have had a poor run of form, with ATKMB barely managing to earn a point in their last 3 games and BFC on a winless streak, looking half-hearted on the pitch and committing glaring mistakes that fans find hard to forgive.
Blues’ shot-stopper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu has come under poor light for being below par with his goalkeeping and Habas’ men definitely need to stop depending upon Roy Krishna and look past the Fijian striker when it comes to scoring goals and salvaging the team.
The Mariners go into the game with a full-strength squad.
Leon is unavailable for Bengaluru.
3 Foreigners to watch out for
The highly acclaimed striker failed to turn up for his team recently but he is one player that can usually be trusted to find space and hit the target. It can get uneasy to play him upfront alone as a striker without Manvir Singh but this goal machine always has something in store for us.
This top signing from ATKMB is someone to look out for. Boumous is already a fan favourite for making instant impacts on the field. Although he hasn’t appeared on the scoresheet recently, Boumous’ playmaking abilities will be beneficial and add creativity to the team.
One of the few men in Blue making an impact for Pezzaiuoli, Cleiton Silva could be BFC’s saviour this match.
3 Indians to watch out for
Sunil Chhetri has not exactly been in top form of late. Despite that, it is hoped that his presence and experience will help guide Bengaluru to secure some much-needed points.
Manvir Singh will look to add more goals to his name. Roy Krishna failed to turn up his usual lethal presence at a couple of matches and it would be wrong to rely on only him. Singh with his pace and skills will look for every chance to cut through the Blues’ struggling defence and put the ball in the back of the net.
This talented player joined the Green and Maroon brigade on a record transfer fee. With things not going well for the Mariners, fans are eager to see if he can create an impact on the pitch tonight.
Bengaluru FC –
ATK Mohun Bagan –
Since the merger of Mohun Bagan and ATK, ATKMB have won both their games against Bengaluru FC by scoring 1,2 and 2 goals in 3 games respectively, keeping clean-sheets in all.
Both teams look vindictive. Both sides are not on a great run. Habas will look to put down his critiques and so will Pezzaiuoli. IFTWC would like to predict a scoreline of 1-0 in favour of The Mariners.
