Bino George is all set to be named the technical director for East Bengal’s youth teams. George will also assume responsibility as head coach of the senior team while the management completes the appointment of a foreign manager. He will later serve as the assistant manager for the senior team.
Bino George has been in the managerial circuit for the past sixteen years, managing local Kerala teams like Quartz SC and Red Star FA. Before moving to Bengal and managing United SC, he also worked as an assistant manager for teams like Viva Kerala and Chirag United. The 45-year-old then oversaw Gokulam Kerala before transitioning to the position of technical director in 2019. Bino joined Kerala United as their new head coach after departing Gokulam last year. Under him, Kerala United registered two wins and two losses in their I-League Qualifiers.
Bino George’s latest stint as manager of the Kerala team saw them become champions of the Santosh Trophy for the seventh time defeating the Bengal team. Under him, Kerala won four games and drew one before winning the finals on penalty, as they lifted the coveted trophy after twenty-nine years.
East Bengal, with less than a month to go for the Durand Cup, are yet to finalise their team after being in an extended mess with their investors Emami. Having finalised Bino George as their assistant manager for the senior team, the management can now take some time to finalise their new foreign boss as George will serve as the interim manager.
