Indian women’s team inch closer to World Cup qualification as India set to host Asian Cup 2022

If recent developments from goal.com are to be believed, AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 is set to be hosted by India.

The tournament is set to take place in December 2021, with Navi Mumbai and Ahmedabad being the forerunners to host the tournament.

A total of 5 teams from AFC confederation qualified for the 2019 Women’s World Cup by meritorious performance in the 2018 Women’s Asian Cup. India had failed to qualify for this tournament. The number of teams in the 2023 World Cup is also going to be increased from 24 to 32, giving the team a golden chance to qualify.

With India getting a direct entry in the 2022 Asian Cup by being the hosts, the team now has a very good chance of qualifying for the World Cup. The women’s team has been taking rapid strides lately, and this might be a golden opportunity for the tigresses to make an impression on the world’s biggest stage.
