Chennaiyin FC are set to rope in Mahmoud Al Mawas from Qatar Stars League, IFTWC can confirm.
The 27 years old Syrian winger comes with the experience of playing in the Qatar Stars League. He was playing for Umm Salal SC before agreeing a move to Chennaiyin FC. Before joining them in 2016, he had stints with Al-Muharraq, Al-Arabi SC and Al-Riffa SC. Mahmoud has spent most his professional career outside his homeland.
Mahmoud has scored 11 goals for the Syrian national team in 66 appearances. He made his debut for the Syrian national team when he was just 19. Mahmoud has scored against Asian giants like Qatar and China in the past. Mahmoud holds impressive stats, for both club and country.
Chennaiyin FC have roped in Isma, Enes Sipovic and Memo. Two time ISL champions had to shuffle after Nerijus Valskis followed the path of Owen Coyle to Jamshedpur FC and the club decided against retaining Lucian Goian. They have retained Rafael Crivellaro and Eli Sabia, who performed consistently well for them last season.
Mahmoud Al-Mawas is a experienced player. He plays as a winger and can play on both wings. His partnership with Lallianzuala Chhangte will be one to watch out for. According to unconfirmed reports, Chennaiyin FC have roped in Brazilian winger Rafael Silva as well. It will be interesting to see if Chennaiyin FC can win the title for the third time.
