Ahead of the clash against SC East Bengal, FC Goa’s assistant coach Clifford Miranda and Adil Khan addressed the media via a pre-match press conference.

Speaking upon the challenge coming up against SC East Bengal, Miranda said,

This game is as important as any other. We will play in the same way like how we have played all 13 games. We have a bit of a concern as Ivan will not available due to suspension and Brandon is injured. But, otherwise, we have a good team. If someone is absent, there is always someone who will replace and perform very well for sure.

Yesterday, AFC Champions League 2021 draw took place and FC Goa were placed in Group E. Addressing the same,

We are only thinking about East Bengal at this moment. Right now, the focus of the players, coaching staff and the entire team are on our next opponents. We will go step-by-step.

“The most important thing about this team is adaptation – the adaptation to the new coach. We are moving forward step-by-step and playing in a way the coach wants. I think we are in the right direction. It’s very usual that when a coach has a new team and new players, it takes time to set up the structure“, he added.

Adil Khan was the latest loan acquisition by the Gaurs, and he will be with them till the end of the season including AFC Champions League. Commenting on Adil’s arrival, Clifford told IFTWC,

At FC Goa, anyone who comes and improves our team is always welcomed. There is no doubt about Adil. Any player who plays in the national team has to have quality. We will be helping each other to reach higher level and improve more. If he wasn’t that quality player then he wouldn’t have been part of the national team playing for such a long time.

Adil Khan shared his thoughts on his time at Hyderabad FC and said,

It was difficult for me at the beginning of the season because I was out due to injury for two weeks. So, I couldn’t match the fitness level with other players. This is something which usually happens in football.

When someone else takes your place and performs well, then the coach will think about that person more than who isn’t playing. But, now luckily, I have got the chance to come here and prove myself”, he added.

Speaking upon his place in Indian National team and chances to play under Igor Stimac, Adil said,

Of course, this is a little bit of a concerning issue for me. If you don’t play and show your game in the current season, it is also difficult for a coach to believe in you. I think I should get my chance in the camp so that I can prove myself again there and get my place in the national team.”
