Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle was thrilled with his team’s performance and lauded his players on an outstanding performance as they beat Kerala Blasters FC at the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Thursday.
Owen Coyle was confident of his team scoring more goals than what the scoreline tells us but the Scotsman heaped praise on his Kerala Blasters FC counterpart Ivan Vukomanovic and stated that the Blasters would make the top four as they have some top quality players.
Two Greg Stewart penalties and a third strike from Daniel Chima sent Kerala Blasters FC packing as the Men of Steel sealed their seventh victory of the season lifting them to the second spot in the league standings, one-point adrift league leaders Hyderabad FC.

The Jamshedpur FC head coach addressed the media after the match in the post-match press conference. Below are the excerpts for the same.
Owen spoke about new signing Daniel Chima who has been impressive and have scored 3 goals in 3 matches since making his debut. The gaffer also spoke about Chima’s consistency in terms of his performance.
“It’s important that you’re consistent, both in your performances on the pitch and off the pitch personality. He’s an outstanding player not just because he scored goals but what he brings to the team. We’ve got Greg Stewart on the front and some amazing wingers down the sides.
“Jamshedpur FC is a very exciting team and Daniel Chima is playing a very big part in it. He along with the rest of the players in the team played really well today against very tough opposition (Kerala Blasters) who will finish in the top four spots in my opinion.”
Jamshedpur FC came into the game against Kerala Blasters from a defeat in the last match. Coyle spoke about how satisfied he is with the team in yesterday’s match.
“It was important to freshen up a little bit. Coming on the back of a defeat against Bengaluru where we made a lot of mistakes, long throws, a corner, but all the goalscoring chances were saved, unlike tonight. But we were a better defensive unit, and the midfield did very well. So, I am delighted because when you look through our team.
“We have players who didn’t think they’re good enough at their former clubs, but I knew they were good enough. I know their ability, how we want to play in our system, the energy we’re bringing with high-intensity play, how brave we are, how attack-minded we are, and all those boys are playing their part.”

Owen Coyle spoke about the omission of Alex Lima from the starting lineup.
“Well, there’s no doubt they are two wonderful players. But it was very harsh for Alex Lima as he was arguably the best player for us against Bengaluru FC. With the four foreigners’ rule, I wanted us to focus a bit more on the attack with Daniel Chima and Greg Stweart. While Ritwik Das and Pronay Halder were giving solidity at the defense alongside Peter Hartley and Eli Sabia.
“So I had to sacrifice Alex Lima for that purpose, but there’s no doubt he (Lima) is a top professional. He is always there when the team needs him and he came in the second half and played brilliantly. We need players like him who can raise the team spirit in the team.”
Four wins and three clean sheets in the last five matches. Owen shared his thoughts on going ahead after such an impressive result against the Kerala Blasters.
“Yes, we’re working hard, and there’s still more work to do ahead of us. We’ve learned our mistakes from the Bengaluru game, and what was important is that we learned to rebound quickly. There is pure spirit and camaraderie when you’re winning but the truth is when you have a difficult moment when you lose a game, you have to bounce back, and we showed that tonight. From the first minute till the last, the boys were outstanding tonight.”
