Csaba Laszlo- If you can't score goals, you can't win the games Csaba

As the Hero Indian Super League heads into the final straight, teams would be desperate to turn in their hopes, and will look to keep the pressure on those above them in the ISL Table. Chennaiyin FC’s gaffer Csaba Laszlo addressed the pre-match presser ahead of their important clash against Mumbai City FC.

As far as the season concerned for the Marina Machans, it has been a topsy-turvy path for them. Currently placed at Six, it’s no secret that Chennaiyin FC will look onto pull off the things, and possibly aiming to secure a spot in the play-offs. It’s now a high time for Csaba Laszlo to roll his carpet and do the justice for his side.

A loss in the desperate minutes against ATK Mohun Bagan would have really hurt the fortunes of Chennaiyin, yet the Gaffer feels positive ahead of their next match against Mumbai City FC which will be played at Bambolim on Monday.

“It’s not nice to lose a game and especially in the last minute. Also, in the last 10-15 minutes, ATK Mohun Bagan dominated the game. The spirit of the players at this moment is very down but we have to fight back against Mumbai City which will also be a difficult game” opined Csaba Laszlo.

On the other side, the Islanders have been exceptional this season, scoring the most number of goals and indeed conceding the very least. Thus it’s no piece of cakewalk for the Csaba led side this time.

“We will try to take three points because we need it to build the players mentality. You can’t win games unless you score goals. Deepak made this mistake as he lost his man, David Williams but he’s also strong and we will try to build him up and not just criticize him. Against Mumbai City, we will need a stronger mentality. They have not lost for 11 games in a row. So we will have to try and break them down,” Laszlo added.

The last time when the two sides met, it went all favor for the Islanders. Despite displaying a good intent, the side went on to lose the game due to poor refereeing decisions. Now it will be another wreck as Chennaiyin lose its senior player Rafa who was ruled out of the season owing to an injury. Since his departure the team lacked creativity and the difference is evident.

“We played very well in the first game against Mumbai City except for conceding twice from set pieces due to individual mistakes. We had our chances to score from open play and I don’t think we have changed much. For me, the most terrible game was against Hyderabad where we made a lot of mistakes. In every other game, we tried to dominate and create chances. It’s not easy to go in every game with the same energy level because the games come very quickly and you have to adapt to the opponent, the gaffer commented.

In the meantime, Csaba should be happy to get his prime boy Anirudh Thapa back in play. “He is training good. He was available, yet he was given a rest to focus more on the match against Mumbai City FC. Hopefully he is fit and will be available for the upcoming match.”

Csaba Laszlo pressurizes Chennaiyin to be aggressive against Mumbai City, and wants his side to work as a team. The Gaffer feels that his side feels that his side will need a more attacking approach to their next game. If not now, it’s never. “In this game against Mumbai, it will be completely different. We have to open the game up and we want to score goals. Even if it’s Mumbai City, one of the most dangerous teams in the ISL, we have to try to win the game. I’m sure that we will get chances and there will be possibilities to use but the instinct to be hungry will be the key tomorrow,” concluded the gaffer.
