The Manipuri born defender Yendrembam Denechandra Meitei is all set to sign multi-year contract extension with Kerala Blasters FC, IFTWC can confirm.
The 27-year old left-back started his career by making senior debut with Pune FC in 2013. Before Pune FC, he was part of Mohun Bagan and Sambhalpur football academy. Later for the 2017-18 season, he signed for Churchill Brothers and made 15 appearances. He also has represented India at U-13 youth level.
Before joining Kerala Blasters, he represented NEROCA and TRAU FC in I-League season 2018-19 and 2019-20 season respectively. He made 16 appearances for both clubs combined.
Last season, clocking 501 minutes Meitei played six matches for Kerala Blasters. The versatile defender got less game time but made 3 interceptions and 2.5 tackles on average per game.
Kerala Blasters have also managed to sign 20-year old Sanjeev Stalin from Portuguese club Sertanense FC. As the announcement of the new gaffer is yet to be made, it will be interesting to watch who impresses the most and gets into the side’s starting lineups in the upcoming ISL season.
