The former ISL champions are all set to rope in Joe Zoherliana from the People’s Club. Blues have one of the best defense in the country, addition of Joe will definitely strengthen their defense.
Joe plays as a right back, But he can also play on the left side of defense. 20 years old wingback never made some impressive Overlapping runs and has good crossing abilities. In this I League season, Joe has played 15 matches. He started 14 matches and came on as a sub against East Bengal. He scored one goal against Indian Arrows on 9th December 2019.
Joe started his career in Mizoram when he was young. He then moved to Shillong and made his senior debut in Shillong Premier League for the Shillong Lajong. Joe then moved far away to Maharashtra, signing for FC Pune City. He played for their U18 team. Before joining FC Pune City, he had a short stint with Chanmari FC. Chanmari FC plays in the Mizoram Premier League.
Aizawl FC signed him for I League 2018-19 season. It was a homecoming for the local lad. He wasn’t a regular starter in his first season with the club. But he was a regular starter under coach Stanley in this I League season. Joe was consistent throughout the season and did enough to catch the attention of Former ISL champions.
Veterans like Rahul Bheke and Khabra were inconsistent for the blues. Signing of Joe will definitely put both of them under pressure. Bengaluru FC have already extended the contracts of Udanta Singh, Dimas and Erik Paartalu. After failing to retain their ISL title, Bengaluru FC have started to rebuild their squad. Can Carles Cuadrat help Bengaluru FC to win their second ISL title next season?
