Exclusive | Boris Singh and ATK set to part ways

In what comes across a major move for the former U-17 World Cupper Boris Singh Thangjam, ATK are ready to sell off Boris for an undisclosed transfer fee.

A fan favourite, Boris had an underwhelming season as he made zero appearances for the ATK senior team in the Indian Super League in the 2019-20 season. He had played just one match for ATK in the Durand Cup, where ATK had sent their B team.

At right-back, Boris Singh caught the eyes of several fans and pundits, and was touted as the next big thing in Indian football. With fans even expecting a move to Europe, Boris finally signed for ATK in 2018 and spent the first season on loan at Indian Arrows. The following season, Boris was made to sit out as he didn’t find a place in the first team.

Boris Singh isn’t the only youngster to have a lack of game-time at ATK. Fellow Under-17 batchmates of 2017, Komal Thatal and Dheeraj Singh are other youngsters who spent the majority of the season on the bench.

As per our sources, Boris still has a year left on his contract and ATK are willing to sell him off and profit from transfer fee for the same.

With his blistering pace and bright future, Boris can be a useful signing for many clubs. It will be interesting to which club’s jersey will Boris be wearing next season.
