FC Goa have signed 19-year-old defensive midfielder Ayush Dev Chhetri on a free transfer, IFTWC can confirm.
The Mizoram born signed for I-League side Aizawl FC back in 2019 where he signed a three-year deal that expired in May.
“It has been nothing but a pleasure to wear this shirt at Aizawl, as I’m set to take on a new journey. I would like to take this moment to thank Aizawl football club for all the support in the past five years and for helping me grow into a better version of myself. Thank you all,” said Ayush in his farewell post today on Instagram.
Chhetri rose through the ranks of Aizawl’s U18 side where he showcased his potential and value to the team.
Clocking 807 minutes, he played 10 matches and scored 3 goals in the last I-League season. The pressing & game awareness that he possessed as a defensive midfielder attracted interest from other I-League and ISL clubs too.
Out of 10 games, he started 5 matches under head-coach Yan Law. Ayush Dev will play a significant role at FC Goa in the following years, along with Glan Martins and Princeton Rebello.
Preparing for the new season, FC Goa have already completed the signing of all six foreign players and Indian goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh. Recently, the club announced Gauramangi Singh as their new Indian Assistant coach.
