Ahead of the clash against Bengaluru FC, NorthEast United FC’s head-coach Gerard Nus and Midfielder Khassa Camara addressed the press in the pre-match press conference.
Upon being asked about the upcoming clash against Bengaluru FC, Nus said, “Bengaluru FC has been the team which holds strong records. Also, we know Bengaluru has been good in set-pieces and scoring goals very attractively. Speaking of our tactics, we have always taken into consideration the style of opponents. Hence, we will fight till the last minute of the match for grabbing the win.“
“I am really happy about the performance of every player, on and off the field. It’s very beneficial for a team that everyone is eager to prove themselves and players are competing against each other to establish their position in starting 11 before every match. Moreover, we are also implementing the techniques of squad rotation. We believe we have very good players and they can be trusted for their better performance when we give them the chance.” He added.
The partnership of Khassa Camara and Apuia Lalengmawia has been quite influencing in the midfield area, on that note, Camara said, “Apuia has been a very good player, we usually keep talking about the game and how to improve it more. Not only Apuia but I find the whole team is very positive towards the training sessions and matches. Everybody is giving their best.“
Speaking of standard of the ISL league, Camara said, “I find that the league has been very competitive. Looking at the Indian as well as foreign players of the whole league, every team is trying their best to reach the top of the points table.“
Since the start of the league, Northeast United FC will play their 5th league match tonight in around 18 days, upon asked about the tight schedule of the league, Nus said, “It’s the dangerous aspect as it increases the chances of injury. If we get more time for recovery and preparation in between matches, it would be much better as players can be more fit and fresh. In these circumstances of the pandemic, we have to accept the situation and should go on as it is.“
