Gerard Nus – We are the only team to have beaten the best team in the league

-

NorthEast United FC suffered a two goal margin loss against Hyderabad FC with the latter netting four goals and the prior netting two goals. The goalscorers for NorthEast United FC were Federico Gallego and Benjamin Lambot whilst for Hyderabad FC, Aridane Santana and Joel Chianese scored two single goals, and Liston Colaco scored a brace leading his side to a massive win.

“I think we did great in the first half, there was a good desire to comeback, the timing was great. But we’ve been missing the determination and we have got to score more, as simple as that. It’s good when you create a lot of chances. And in defence, I think we gave away two easy goals, too cheaply”, Gerard Nus said.

Gerard Nus also said that bringing on Chhara and Fox was rather an offensive plan than a defensive plan when Machado and Mashoor were taken off.

When asked how are the players and the team going to get over the continued winless streak, Gerard Nus said,

“We have a set of mature players. We need to learn from the mistakes. This, again, is a situation to test the character of the players. It’s important to keep calm, analyse, and gather good rest and work towards the next game.”

Gerard Nus also said that there are a lot of factors that dictate any football game, it’s not just the plan. Gerard Nus opined that injuries, refereeing, and so on.

Gerard Nus continued,

“To be honest, I do not think about the points table at the moment. We’ve played ten games and there are ten more to go. We are going to comeback stronger. In the end, we are the only team that won against the best team in the league, that’s always going to be there. And also, I think we deserved better in many other games. We have the record for the most number of attempts against Odisha FC. But we need to improve both offensively and defensively.”

Gerard Nus signed off.
