“This is by far the best ISL season and shows the quality of young players we’ve”, the Indian National Team coach, Igor Stimac quoted after being enticed by the quality of the young players. Amongst many, the player that can be a prime example is Hitesh Sharma for his heroic performance this season.
This feeling is shared by all the Hyderabad FC fans and also those who follow ISL very closely. Football pundits are falling in love, head over heels, and it is easy to understand why. From not getting enough game time at ATK to being absolutely irreplaceable at Hyderabad. Hitesh has come a long way and surely has a lot more to achieve.
If you don’t follow the Hyderabad FC very closely, then you probably don’t know how Hitesh has been contributing consistently, but scouts from all the top clubs are watching his progress very closely. His exquisite talents are reminiscent of simple but yet elegant and best mid-fielders, which makes you think that Igor surely can be the perfect man to develop this gem.
Hitesh has featured in 15 games for the Nizams this season and has absolutely been a top-notch player for them. Playing alongside Joao Victor has surely helped the young man but the belief that Manolo Marquez has shown in the 23-year-old midfield maestro is something very amazing to notice for all the Indian Football fans.
“According to me, Hitesh Sharma is a very good player. He’s one of those quality Indian players who understand the game’s situation really well. He’s very good technically, always wants the ball, and never scared. He’s surely one of the most complete players in the ISL” quoted Manolo Marquez when asked about the brilliance of Hitesh Sharma in the ISL 2020-21.
There are several qualities about Hitesh that speak with a rare clarity of the game at its best and purest. Hitesh is a good passer of the ball, he’s an excellent presser, tackler and he keeps it very simple which is what you exactly need from your calm heads in the midfield. While there are players like Chhetri who excel in almost every single aspect of the game, Hitesh is a man who has nailed down one aspect of the game to a fine art which has to be the prime reason of Stimac calling him up for the National Team camp.
Maybe the comparatively placid Hitesh is destined for bigger things and can surely be one player Hyderabad FC fans and most importantly, Indian football fans can be proud of in the future. But, for those who cherish the game’s more profound characteristics, Hitesh Sharma is football.
