I-League – Rajasthan United FC signs Jefferson Oliveira

-

Rajasthan United FC have completed the signing of defender Jefferson Oliveira, IFTWC can confirm the news!

The 33-year-old centre-back from Brazil has primarily plied his trade in Italy, and also in several other countries like Portugal, Indonesia, Armenia, and Greece.

Jefferson started his career in Italy with Udinese Calcio youth ranks. After being promoted to the first team he was sent to a series of loan stints to numerous clubs across Italy like Salernitana, Modena, Perugia, Venezia, and Bellaria IM.

In 2014, he left Udinese and joined Vicenza where he was sent on loan to Juve Stabia upon joining. After returning back from loan, Oliveira left the club in 2015 and joined Sampdoria on a free transfer.

Right after joining, he was sent to Portuguese club Atletico CP. The same followed next season where he was sent on loan to another Portuguese club Gil Vicente.

After returning from his loan stints he was released by the Italian club and he became a free agent for seven months before joining Portuguese outfit Famalicao in early 2018.

Ahead of the 18/19 season he signed for CD Fatima in Portugal where he spent two seasons before signing for Indonesian club Persik Kediri in the beginning of 2020.

After one year he signed for Armenian club FC Noah where he played for a year and became a free agent. In the 22/23 season, he became part of the Greek club AO Ypatou.

Rajasthan United FC had finished in 7th position in the 22/23 I-League season and went all the way to the Quarterfinals in the 2022 Durand Cup where they had been eliminated by ISL side Hyderabad FC.

The key players like Joseba Beitia, Hardik Bhatt, Nikum Gyamar, and Martin Chaves leaving them was one of the main reasons why their efforts for ISL promotion failed last season. But they will look to push harder for promotion to the ISL 24/25 season with the help of ongoing reinforcements.
