With the appointment of new head coach Ashley Westwood in July, the club from Punjab has been actively monitoring a few experienced players to add to their squad, and one of the names from the list was the 31-year old striker Robin Singh.
To know more about the other players RoundGlass Punjab FC is targeting, read about their transfer rumours here.
The striker last played for Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) was loaned to I-League side Real Kashmir FC, where he made seven appearances and scored one goal. Although Robin will ply his trade in the I-League, he has played for some of the biggest clubs in the Indian Super League (ISL), including FC Goa, FC Pune City, Bengaluru FC, and ATK, to name a few. He has featured for top ISL sides throughout his career.
The Noida-born striker has represented India at the U-16, U-23, and the senior level. As of now, he has 30 caps for the Indian National Team and has found the net five times for the Blue Tigers.
Still, only 31, Robin’s addition to the squad might be the start of a rebuild under Ashley Westwood that RG Punjab needs to get back to the top and reclaim the I-league title, which they have been chasing since last winning it in the 2017-18 season. Despite struggling to make an impact in the last few seasons, it would not be a surprise if Robin Singh becomes the centre of things for the Punjab club, having had so much experience in the top-flight of Indian football.
The transfer is a win-win situation for both parties, with RoundGlass Punjab FC eyeing the I-League title and Robin Singh looking for an opportunity to prove himself.
