In today series of (IPS) we travel to the Northeast part of the country, to Manipur.The past three years have been a rollercoaster ride for the ‘Red Pythons’, as they are fondly called by the TRAU faithfuls.
The team failed to gain promotion to I-League in 2018 after being eliminated in the final phase of the campaign, after the bitter lose in Bengaluru. The club reinforced their squad and eventually gained promotion to I-League in 2019.
Sandeep Singh has been with the club through thick and thin, as he has been with them from the start of their journey to I-League.
Sandeep is a product of Shillong Lajong Academy and made his professional debut in January 2015 for them against Pune FC. It has been five long years since then.
It has been a very stop-start career for him before he finally came into limelight this season. He has struggled for game time during this period, which forced him to move to the lower tier of the Indian football structure. This move paid off for him, as he has completely transform his style of play.
Sandeep Singh play a pivotal role under Head Coach Dimitris Dimitriou in which the team kept two clean sheets and conceded only three goal in five matches. The team registered four wins and one draw, which turned out to be a fruitful period in their campaign.
Sandeep Singh, standing at 1.7 metres, possess some stunning defensive stats, averaging more than 12 challenge, 6 interceptions and 3 tackle every game! Not just that, his 81% passing accuracy out of 488 passes shows how complete he is as a defender.

It was a no brainer for Kerala Blasters to sign him up even before the season was over. But come next season, Sandeep Singh will have a major shoe to fill as their center back Sandesh Jhingan has left the club.
