The assistant coach has high ideals for his side in this Hero ISL Season 7 and praises that his boys will soon be in national colors.
Just following an abysmal start to the season, Kerala Blasters have soon broken their jinx and got back to tussle the game with high ideals. The yellow brigadiers has been slowly rising down from the lane and are locked with hefty challenges ahead to test their fortunes .
As Kibu to miss out he next encounter, assistant coach Ishfaq Ahmed and the Custodian Albino Gomes addressed the pre-match presser ahead of their important clash against Jamshedpur FC which will be played out on Wednesday at Bambolim, Margao.
Kerala Blasters will be in a total comatose as they are set out missing head coach Kibu Vicuna and a bunch of players for their 2020-21 Indian Super League clash against Jamshedpur on Wednesday.
“We know that we won’t have some players and unfortunately Kibu is not available for this match but we have some players coming back from injuries. But, I think he’ll be there for us. We have a good depth in the squad and a positive attitude to go for three points,” he briefed out the situation and feels that his team has enough squad depth to overcome any challenge.
In their previous encounter with FC Goa, Blasters really had enough chances to score but desperate the side wasted those in very flurry moments . Despite FC Goa were down to 10 men, Blasters couldn’t find their spaces to seal a win. We had clear-cut chances in the game against FC Goa. Rather than saving a point, it was more like two points lost. We needed the three points more than playing attractive football,” he admitted his side to focus more and work out.
The Englishman Gary Hooper had been the talk of the town when Blasters signed him, but his performance has not been up to the par, losing his nerves lately. He has scored just twice in 11 appearances but the coach explained that the club has given the striker a different role.
“He plays more for the team than trying to score himself .I don’t think he’s lacking confidence. He’s playing No. 10 now, and is making a difference by creating more chances. We had a word with him and he understands football. He played for the team against Goa and tried to pass the ball to a player who he felt was at a better position” Ishfaq Ahmed praised Hooper, despite of the woes.
For the shot-stopper Albino Gomes, this edition of Hero ISL bore him every fortune that he ached for. The Custodian of the Southern-Brigadiers has been classy between the poles, and to everyone’s awe he pulled out 3 Penalty saves so far. “Albino is up there doing his job and hopefully, the whole team will support him and the team will keep more clean sheets” stated the Indian Coach.
As a last resort, the side will be happy to welcome their players Costa Nhamoinesu and Nishu Kumar, who are expected to return from injuries. But to a dismay the Team won’t be having the likes the Jordan, Jeaskon and Rahul in their next match-day. “The settled team missed one of its key players in the last outings. But, I think there are players who are really responding well. You can’t avoid injuries and they are a part of football”
In this 2021 Hero ISL, Kerala Blasters endowed a lot of faith in Indian Talents, and in return the likes are paying interests in an high work rate. The Indian Coach had all his praises for Rahul KP And Albino Gomes, and wishes both to get a National Team call hopefully soon.
“I personally think Rahul is a great prospect for the senior national team. We are one of the teams who are playing with an Indian striker. It shows how coaches are confident in Indian strikers also, like how Rahul is also grabbing his chance with both hands. If the national team coach Igor is watching, I think Rahul can be there. He has speed and strength. Even though it seems like he’s not very tall, he can outjump any defender in the league .I feel Albino also is up there and has the attributes to make it to the national team. I believe whoever performs well, should get a call-up, even if he’s a new boy. ” concluded the presser.
