The Spanish forward began his stint in India with Bengaluru FC where he made six appearances without scoring or providing an assist. He was shipped off to Odisha FC mid-season where he had a turnaround of fortunes as he went on to score 7 goals and bagged 2 assists. Odisha signed him permanently for this season after his impressive performances, but what followed turned out to be a massive disappointment for the footballer. Onwu failed to replicate his past performances as he managed only 2 assists from 18 games this season. He failed to find the back of the net in 1322 minutes and his team ended up finishing at the bottom of the table.
