As the upcoming ISL season nears we take a look at players who have previously played in La-Liga.

With season 7 of ISL scheduled to start on 20th November, the fans are eagerly waiting for the date to come closer. Looking at the signings done by the clubs, this season looks set to surpass the excitement of the previous seasons. While the fans won’t have access to stadiums, the fans will be glued to their TV screens rooting for their teams to get hands at the trophy.

While A-League has been a major attraction for most of the teams, there are players who have come from La-Liga or have plied their trade in the league previously. We take a look at players who bring with them the experience of having played in La-Liga.

1. Vicente Gomez

Gomez will play for Kerala Blasters in the upcoming season

A youth product of AD Huracan, he moved to UD Las Palmas in 2009. After the assignment to the C team, he spent his season with the reserves. With a promotion to the main squad on 22 June 2010, Gomez scored his first goal for the team on his debut on 1st September in the Copa Del Ray competition against Real Valladolid. He made his debut in the Spanish top-flight(La-Liga) on 22 August 2015 after the club gained promotion on the back of an impressive 2014-15 season’s campaign. On 17th August 2018, he signed for Deportivo De La Coruna.

On 23rd September 2020, Kerala Blasters announced Gomez as their player. A defensive midfielder by the position he will surely be a welcome addition to the club. With the club missing an experienced player in that position his experience will surely help to link the defense and the attack while providing a strong cover in the midfield. The Blasters fans will be waiting to see him in action and become an important part of the team.

2. Bakary Kone

Kone will be an important player for Kerala Blasters this season

Kone started his football career playing for the youth side of CFTPK Abidjan and joined Etoile Filante in 2004 beginning his professional career for the side in 2005. His La-Liga debut came with Malaga where he signed a 3-year deal on 27 June 2016. Kone has also played for clubs like En Avant Guingamp and Olympic Lyon among others.

Kerala Blasters announced him as their player on 21 October 2020. With top-level experience playing for various clubs and competitions such as Champions League(with Olympic Lyon) Kone will surely add value to the club. A defender by position, Kerala Blasters will be looking forward to relying upon the player after their star defender Sandesh Jhingan departed from the club.
