5. Liston Colaco
Liston Colaco has had a redefining season for the impressive Hyderabad FC side this season. Having played 19 of the 20 games for HFC this season, Liston has contributed with 2 goals and 3 assists. As a natural winger, he also has put 24 crosses into the box and has fired 35 shots. More than his goal contribution, it’s his pace and trickery that has caused problems for the opposition. Able on both sides of the pitch, Liston has made HFC a potent counter attacking team. His playing style has also led to the emergence of full backs Akash Mishra and Asish Rai with their attacking prowess.
The 22-year old, former Salgaocar FC player has finally stepped up and shown what he can offer. He has showed glimpses of deft touches and skills to beat defenders, that is normally associated with a winger. Liston, however, has a long way to go. He has sometimes been inconsistent with his passing and lacks the final ball. Having said that, Liston is still very young and is one of the players to watch out for in the future. Indian football fans would be hoping that Liston can fulfill his potential and contribute to the Indian national side with goals and assists for years to come.
4. Asish Rai
Asish Rai has been a revelation for Hyderabad FC in his 2nd season for the club. The former Indian arrows player has taken the league by storm, racking up 1552 minutes in 18 matches this season. The 22-year-old right back also has 2 assists in these 18 matches. Asish throughout the season has impressed everyone with his pace, energy and attacking and defensive ability on the right flank. He has 51 interceptions, which is 4th in the league, having played a smaller number of matches than others. He is 3rd among Indians and 9th overall for the total number of touches in the league with 1161. He has put 47 crosses into the box, which is 2nd in the league for a defender. His defensive abilities are no less either. He has 59 clearances, 29 blocks and whooping 121 recoveries in the league this season. Despite being a defender, he has 24 take-ons’ this season for Hyderabad FC.
These numbers are a reflection of the player Asish has been this season. He has been a mainstay for the young HFC side until his injury in the latter part of league stage. His energy and pace are one of the key attributes that have contributed to Hyderabad FC’s success this season. One of Asish’s important qualities is his tenacity. Asish wins almost all second balls and is never afraid to put in a tackle. The number of recoveries he has in the league proves his tenacity and his desire to win the ball back. Asish has been a consistent performer throughout and has been one of the best young players this season. We can all hope that Asish will continue this brilliant vein of form both for club and country.
