ISL 2024-25: Rodrigues’ Equaliser Secures 1-1 Draw for Mumbai City FC Against Chennaiyin in Historic 1000th ISL match

Chennai: In a gripping clash here at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Nathan Rodrigues’ 64th-minute equaliser salvaged a point for Mumbai City FC as they held Chennaiyin FC to a 1-1 draw on Saturday, November 9.

The encounter saw both teams trading goals within a span of just three minutes, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.Chennaiyin FC drew first blood in the 61st minute, as Ryan Edwards capitalised on a precise pass from Connor Shields to put the hosts ahead.

However, Mumbai City FC quickly responded, with Nathan Rodrigues heading in the equaliser just minutes later, following a stunning assist from van Nieff.The match began at a cautious pace but gained intensity as time progressed. Both sides created chances, with Mumbai’s Mehtab Singh receiving a booking just before half-time. The first 45 minutes ended goalless, with both teams stepping up their attacking play in the second half.

Chennaiyin looked set to claim victory after Edwards’ strike, but Rodrigues’ quick reply ensured the match ended all square.

Chennaiyin FC now sit in fourth place on the ISL points table with 12 points from eight games, while Mumbai City FC are eighth with 10 points.Chennaiyin FC will face Kerala Blasters away on November 24, while Mumbai City FC return home to take on Punjab FC on November 26.
