ISL 2020-21 – 5 Lesser known players to watch out


Paul Ramfangzauva

Odisha FC signed Paul Ramfangzauva from Aizawl FC on a 3 year deal. Paul is a defensive midfielder and is known for his distribution from the deeper positions. Paul started his career at the Aizawl FC academy. Before joining Aizawl FC, Paul was playing locally in his village.

The 21 years old Mizo midfielder was promoted to the first team by the People’s club in 2018-19 season. He made his debut against Shillong Lajong and his first professional goal came against Gokulam Kerala in a 3-1 victory. Last season, Paul played in all 15 games for Aizawl FC and managed to grab 2 assists and scored one goal against Churchill. He was awarded as man of the match twice in the I League.

Paul is admired a lot by the Aizawl FC supporters and he has shown his talent in the I League. Interesting times ahead for the Mizo lad.

Sweden Fernandes

The tall and lanky winger from Quepem, joined Hyderabad FC on a 3 year deal. Sweden appeared for Sporting Club Goa and Dempo in his initial days. Derrick Pereira, the Technical Director of FC Goa spotted him when he was playing in the U16 I league.

After Impressing Derrick Pereira, he was signed by the Gaurs for the U18 I League. Sweden was part of the FC Goa U18 team that reached semifinals of the U18 I League. Sweden scored 2 Goals in the U18 I League and 1 goal in the I League second division in 5 appearances. FC Goa won Goa Premier League that season. He found the net 4 times in the latest Goa Pro League season.

Sweden was regular for FC Goa reserves last season. In the hunt of first team action, Sweden has now signed for Hyderabad FC and will be looking to impress in his first ISL season.
