Alex Lima signs contract extension with Jamshedpur FC

Jamshedpur FC midfielder Alex Lima has signed a contract extension with the club, which will see him don the Red Miners’ jersey for another season, IFTWC can confirm.

The Brazilian midfielder was a key member of last season’s Owen Coyle side, playing more than 1500 minutes. Lima and Coyle had previously worked together at Houston Dynamo FC, and the latter was instrumental in bringing the Brazilian to Jamshedpur.

Alex Lima’s extension with Jamshedpur FC is not surprising, as the 32-year-old deserved a good reward for his performances in the middle for Jamshedpur last season. Lima was a constant threat to the opposition despite not having a goal or assist to his name. He was the workhorse for Jamshedpur, always looking to put the forwards into goal-scoring positions. Based on his statistics, Lima brought significant offensive and defensive prowess to the team. He ended up with 0.9 key passes alongside 1.1 accurate long balls per game. Defensively, Lima completed 1.0 interceptions and 2.2 tackles per game. The 32-year-old had formed a formidable partnership with Aitor Monroy in the midfield for The Red Miners.

Jamshedpur FC has been strengthening their squad for the upcoming season after missing out on the playoffs in the last iteration. The club signed Len Doungel on a three-year deal and completed the signing of veteran Indian defender Anas Edathodika. In addition to Jordan Murray, who played for Kerala Blasters last season, Laldinpuia PC is also in advanced negotiations. The signings are anticipated to be made official soon.
