Mumbai City FC and Amey Ranawade have agreed on a contract extension of two years, IFTWC can confirm with sources inside the club.
Ranawade had a breakthrough season, becoming an integral part of Sergio Lobera’s setup. While Mohammad Rakip started off as the first-choice right-back for the team, his position was soon taken over by the local boy. Ranawade finished the season with 20 appearances to his name.
The 23-year old reunited with Sergio Lobera at Mumbai City FC after playing under the Spaniard at FC Goa in the 2019-20 season. He lifted the ISL League Winner’s Shield last season as well after FC Goa finished top of the table after the league stage. He was roped in by FC Bengaluru United for the I-League qualifiers in September 2020 but the team failed to gain promotion.
The signing of Amey Ranawade was unexpected, yet proved to be fruitful. He was one of the talking points in the ISL Final, after he suffered an unfortunate head injury towards the end of the first half. He had a speedy recovery and now seems to be back in business.
