The much-awaited striker signing is almost done for Kerala Blasters FC as Jorge Rolando Pereyra Díaz is set to put his pen to paper in favour of donning the Kerala outfit, IFTWC can confirm.
As Kerala Blasters FC is set to revamp their foreign contingent for the upcoming iteration of the Indian Super League, Jorge Pereyra Díaz will be the third foreign signing following Adrián Luna and Enes Sipović.
“The player has agreed terms. The formalities that lies under will be completed in the next few days”, a close source to the development claimed.
Also, Kerala Blasters FC will be looking to take in two forwards to their loop this season – one being a target man, and the other being a forward player who can hold the ball and lay it out to finish it.
Jorge Pereyra Díaz has the experience of playing over 140 club matches for eight different clubs under his belt, and he has over 40 goal contributions to his name throughout his career in competitions such as Primera Nacional, Liga Profesional, Torneo Final, Liga MX Apertura, Copa de la Liga, and so on.
The 31-year-old Argentine has plied his trade in Argentina, Malaysia, Mexico, Bolivia, and Chile. The striker started his career with Club Ferro Carril Oeste in 2008 and moved on to Club Atlético Lanús in 2013. Later in 2014, he moved to the Malaysia Super League to ply his trade for Johor Darul Ta’zim F.C.
One interesting fact to note is that during his stint at Johor Darul Ta’zim F.C., he had featured in both AFC Champions League-Qualification and AFC Cup, wherein he had a combined total of nine appearances and ten goal contributions. He has also played against Bengaluru FC once and has a goal to his name against them, too.
He has also played for Club Atlético Independiente, Club León, Club Bolívar, Club Deportivo San Marcos de Arica, and Club Atlético Platense – Atlético Platense being the last club he plied his trade for.
Now, for the 2021/22 footballing season, Jorge Pereyra Díaz is expected to ply his trade for the Kerala Blasters FC. If so, the player will be joining the Yellow Army on a one year contract, and the contract is subject to mutual termination. The Argentine striker should be a wealthy addition to the Blasters squad.
