In what could be a startling development in Indian football, I-league outfit Chennai City FC may take over Indian Super League outfit Chennaiyin FC, as the side based in Coimbatore may shift back to their old home, but with a whole lot of changes.
As per reports from a reliable source within the former I-league champions. Rohit Ramesh, owner of the club who holds the major stake in the club (69%) is already negotiating with the Indian Super League club and the talks are already on an advanced stage. FC Basel is the minor stakeholder in Chennai City FC.
It is also being reported that Chennaiyin FC owners, Abhishek Bachchan and Vita Dani are set to bid for Ahmedabad franchisee. However, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Indian cricketer who is also the stakeholder besides them, may discontinue investing in the club.
If this development turns fruitful, Ahmedabad may finally get an ISL club of its own. Meanwhile, you can also read about all other developments happening in ISL here.
