East Bengal FC have completed the signing of Kerala Blasters goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, IFTWC can confirm. East Bengal has paid a transfer fee of 1.5 crores to Kerala Blasters for Gill’s signature. Gill has been handed a multi-year contract and he will become the highest-paid goalkeeper in the ISL.
Prabhsukhan is expected to travel to Kolkata soon and join for the start of East Bengal’s pre-season camp. Although Kerala Blasters were interested in renewing his contract, East Bengal has managed to convince the young starlet to join their side from next season onwards.
The 22-year-old who hails from Ludhiana, Punjab started his youth career in 2014 at the Chandigarh football academy before impressing and getting selected by the AIFF Elite Academy in 2016. After a season in the Elite Academy, he was selected for the Indian Arrows team (the former developmental team of the AIFF) which took part in India’s second division – the I-League.
After a two years stay with the Indian Arrows, Gill was signed by ISL side Bengaluru FC for the 2019/20 season. But game time was hard to find for the youngster, and next season he joined Kerala Blasters. Gill has been with the Blasters since 2020 and he has been a regular for the club since the 21/22 season where he performed brilliantly on course to the Hero ISL final run.
Gill has appeared for the India U20 side quite a few times and was also capped for India U17 and U23 teams. He even had a recent call-up to the senior national team camp but didn’t feature in any game.
Gill is a former golden glove winner in the Indian Super League for his record clean sheets during the 20/21 season. He is quite young as well and yet to hit his prime. East Bengal FC had a problem last season where they used to concede late goals and couldn’t hold on to their lead in the games and eventually lost the matches or drew at times. With the arrival of Gill, East Bengal will now have a trusted custodian at the back of their defense to guard their goal and prevent them from conceding.

Meanwhile, East Bengal FC with the appointment of former ISL winning coach Carles Cuadrat are on course for a rebuild of their squad in order to get better results and performance from next season.
The Red and Gold Brigades have never managed to make it into the top six or the ISL playoffs before since they entered ISL. This time they would surely look to do it with a revamped squad and the root of which certainly lies due to the new signings the club has made ahead of the upcoming season.
