Midfielders

Talking about the midfield in our Free Agents 11, Germanpreet Singh and Pronay Halder are two former ISL champions that would provide the much-needed cover for the defence as holding midfielders. Germanpreet has been a part of Chennaiyin since 2017 after being drafted by the outfit from Marina Arena. He went onto win the ISL in his debut season and came close last season as Chennaiyin finished second behind ATK in a closed-door final match which he was a part of. Germanpreet was a regular for Chennaiyin last season, playing 13 games for the side and now the lad from Gurdaspur, Punjab is up for grabs for free. Pronay too is a proven Champion. Pronay turned out for FC Goa during ISL 2015 and the 2017/18 season. A runner up in 2015, Pronay had a brilliant 2017/18 season guiding the Gaurs to the semi-finals. He had also played for Mumbai City in 2016 ISL season. The last 2 seasons, Pronay has been playing for his hometown club, ATK and was at last able to lift the coveted ISL Championship trophy with them last season that has eluded him the past. Both Germanpreet and Pronay have represented India on the International stage and with the pedigree both these players possess, they are bound to attract some of the finest suitors vying for their signature.
To provide some creative productivity in the midfield, we would go with Kean Lewis, who has run out his contract at Bengaluru FC and is now a free agent. Kean Lewis who was part of the Mahindra United youth teams has also played youth football in the United States. He started his senior career in India with Mohun Bagan and while being a part of the Mariners roster, Lewis joined Delhi Dynamos on loan during 2016 ISL season and turned heads with his performances as he went on to record 4 goals and 3 assists to his name and guided the Dynamos on to the play-offs. After spending a season with Pune City, Kean Lewis went on to join Bengaluru FC and his performances experienced a dip in form that led to him getting less playing time. He did win the ISL with Bengaluru, but it is highly unlikely that he will turn out for “The Blues” next season. Lewis can be a destructive player on his day and where his talents will be on display next season is something that remains to be seen.
