The Highlanders are set to sign 23-year-old centre-back Gaurav Bora from Odisha FC on a pre-contract agreement, IFTWC can confirm.
Gaurav started his career in the Pune FC academy before graduating to the first team in 2016. He signed for ISL side Pune City FC reserves later that year. In 2017 he made it into the first team and later signed for I-League club Chennai City FC on loan.
After his loan deal concluded, he returned to Pune City FC only to rejoin Chennai City FC again on loan for another season. He played a major role in their 2018-19 I-League triumph. He signed for Delhi Dynamos FC (now Odisha FC) in the following season.
Gaurav Bora has 41 appearances in the Indian Super League alongside 28 appearances in the I-League to his name. The defender has also represented India in the age group teams. Bora has made 13 appearances this season for Odisha FC ensuring a good pair with center-backs Victor Mongil and Hector Rodas.
NorthEast United FC have conceded 43 goals this season, the most conceded by any team this season. With Gaurav Bora’s addition, the Highlanders backline will get a huge boost in terms of both defensive cover and also the quality of depth in the defense line.
