Kerala Blasters FC have completed the signing of Australian forward Jaushua Sotirio on a two-year deal that will be running till 2025!
The 27-year-old who can play as a winger and a striker has played for several Australian top-tier league clubs like Western Sydney Wanderers, Wellington Phoenix, and Newcastle Jets.
Jaushua’s parents hail from New Caledonia, and Jaushua was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and has dual citizenship in France and Australia. Sotirio started his career with the semi-professional club Marconi Stallions which was based in his hometown. He was also nurtured at the academy of the A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers before getting promoted to their senior team back in 2013.
Jausua went on to make 90 appearances for the Wanderers, over the course of six years. He even scored 12 goals for the Sydney-based side. In 2019 he signed for New Zealand club Wellington Phoenix in the A-League. Sotirio scored 16 goals in 66 appearances for the Phoenix till 2022. After departing Wellington in 2022, he signed a two-year deal with fellow A-League club Newcastle Jets FC.
So far, he has scored 3 goals in 24 appearances for the Jets. Overall in his entire career, Jaushua Sotirio has netted a total of 31 goals in 180 matches and also made as many as 11 appearances.
Jaushua has also represented the Socceroos at the U23 levels (3 goals in 6 matches) and the U20 level (1 goal in 7 matches) as well. But unfortunately, he never got a callup from the senior team.
Jaushua will replace another Australian striker Apostolos Giannou at the club, who won’t be retained after failing to prove himself in his time in India. Sotirio will team up with Greek striker Dimitrios Diamantakos to lead the team’s attack. Diamantakos scored 12 goals and provide 3 assists in 24 appearances in all competitions this season. It will certainly be a pair to watch out for next season.
