Mumbai City FC is set to complete the signing of Brad Inman, IFTWC can confirm.
The 29-year-old midfielder joined ATK Mohun Bagan from Brisbane Roar last year. However, the Australian failed to shine under the coaching of Habas as a result of which he was loaned out to Odisha FC during the winter transfer window, while Marcelinho signed for ATK Mohun Bagan in exchange.
Inman enjoyed a good spell at Odisha, where he featured in almost all their matches registering two assists and a goal. After the ISL concluded, Inman returned home and signed a short-term loan deal with Western United, where he featured in five matches for them. The Australian is now set to sign with Mumbai City FC as their Asian quota player for the upcoming iteration of the ISL.
This season, ISL clubs have faced much difficulty convincing foreigners to join their club due to the strict COVID regulations and bio-bubble that awaits them. With the purchase of Brad Inman, Mumbai City FC has secured a player who is familiar with the ISL’s bio-bubble and Indian conditions. The management has looked beyond the last season of Brad Inman in India and believes that the player has much more to offer. He is expected to link at the front with Igor Angulo, making Mumbai strong attackingly.
Brad Inman had a fantastic season with Brisbane Roars in 2019 where he played under current East Bengal manager Robbie Fowler. He recorded six assists and four goals during the season, making him one of the best players in the league. Inman also has experience playing in England’s League One, where he donned Rochdale FC’s jersey and featured in 29 matches for them scoring four goals.
After selling Hugo Boumous to rivals ATK Mohun Bagan, Mumbai City FC moved quickly to secure Brazilian Cassio Gabriel on loan from Vila Nova. The Islanders did not sign Japanese midfielder Cy Goddard after his loan spell ended, which led Mumbai to sign Brad Inman to replace him. While the defending champions have lost a few key players in this transfer window, they have done considerbaly well so far to replace those players.
Star Indian midfielder Lalengmawia Apuia and last season’s golden boot winner Igor Angulo have already signed for Mumbai City FC, and now Brad Inman becomes the latest addition to their roster. Apart from making an impressive first appearance in the AFC Champions League, Mumbai City FC appears to be determined to defend their title in the upcoming season.
