Mumbai City FC have completed the signing of talented midfielder Nikum Gyamar from the I-League side Rajasthan United FC.
The Islanders have completed the signing of the 18-year-old Gyamar Nikum by paying a record transfer fee for a player of his age. The contract is said to be of Four and a half year deal with an option to extend further.

It was no surprise to find the Arunachal Pradesh-born youngster on the radar of a couple of Indian Super League clubs.
He was reportedly also chased and wanted by fellow ISL side FC Goa. But, it was the Islanders who won the race to sign one of the young hot prospects in the country.

Gyamar Nikum made his debut for his club Rajasthan United FC squad during the I-League Qualifiers on 20th October 2021, at the age of just 16 years and 359 days.
He went on to become one of the youngest players from Arunachal Pradesh to play in the competition when he appeared against Madan Maharaj in the Qualifiers.

In his own words, the midfielder came to Rajasthan United as part of the academy but the club hierarchy saw potential and introduced him to the senior team.
Scoring goals against Indian football heavyweights ATK Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City has made people take note of him. However, Gyamar Nikum was showing signs of brilliance way before scoring against these giants of Indian Football.

He was a key player for the Rajasthan United FC squad that took part in the I-League qualifiers and the 2021-22 I-League season. Deservedly, he also got a call-up for the India U-20 national training camp in June.
The 18-year-old’s winner in an iconic 3-2 win over ATK Mohun Bagan was an indicator of his positional awareness and finishing skills. Scoring a winner at the stroke of 90+5 minutes of the game also took a lot of composure, and everyone saw his talent.

In the fixture against Mumbai City, Nikum was incredible in his movement and finishing with his left foot, curling the ball toward the far post from the edge of the penalty box. The ability to cut inside from the wing makes him a dangerous prospect.
Playing in the I-League last year was key for the winger and he should be a regular starter this season for Rajasthan United. His goal-scoring touch in the Durand Cup 2022 suggests that the winger can also play as a forward if he is needed for the team.

To put it in simple words, the future is bright for Gyamar Nikum. He has tons of potential and the right guidance can take him far. It is imperative for the youngster to get regular game time in order to gain proper exposure and experience.
A utility like this will definitely make him an asset to every team. He could also become a regular for the Indian national team in the age-restricted category if his developmental graph continues to rise the same way.
The Midfielder had 3 goals contribution (2 goals and 1 assist) in the four games that he played in the 2022 Durand Cup. Having played four games, he also has a goal to his name in the Hero I-League this season.
All in all this move will undoubtedly be great for both parties, as Mumbai City will strengthen their midfield and get a player who will represent them for years to come.

Meanwhile, Nikum Gyamar will get to feature in the country’s top-division matches and possibly catch the eye of the national team coach in the process.
