North East United have been picking up quite a few players from their region this season and here they are with another new signing from one of their very own 8 States. This time it is a 22-year-old Forward from Mizoram, Jonathan Lalrawngbawla.
Jonathan was previously playing for his home state club, Aizawl FC, and is a product of the Aizawl FC Academy. Jonathan played as a forward for Aizawl FC and has a good amount of contribution in attacks for the team.
He joined Aizawl FC’s senior team in 2016 and began his senior career with the Mizoram Premier League. Jonathan finally made his I-League debut on 4th March 2017, coming on as a substitute in the second half, in a 2-0 victory against Mumbai.
North East United had already signed one of the top performers of Aizawl FC’s last I-League campaign, Rochharzela, who would surely add good strength to their wings and now they sign another Aizawl FC player who plays as a forward and is also one great young talent to watch out for.
Aizawl has been quite good in bringing up great young players in recent years and Jonathan Lalrawngbawla also known as JoJo is one of the fine young prospects which Aizawl FC’s academy has produced. Jonathan had got few games under his belt in Aizawl, including a few AFC Cup matches, Super Cup, and of course I-League matches, and his performances surely caught the eyes of the North East United management and hence the highlanders picked him up for the upcoming season.
This will be a huge boost for the youngster and a great opportunity for him to step up his game. Jonathan would be joining the Highlanders and would be looking forward to pouring down his contributions for the only team from North East, in the Indian Super League.
North East United will benefit a lot from the young signing who is a versatile player at the forward region of the pitch with his vision, passing, and creativity along with the nac of scoring goals. This will strengthen their attack as well as give an exposure to another Youngster from the North East to showcase his talent in the Indian Super League.
An additional advantage for NEUFC will be having his partner Rochharzela as well, and hence the two of them can combine in the run of play to create opportunities for the team, which they previously did for Aizawl FC.
Going into the season North East have made some great signings so far and will be looking for more to strengthen their squad further, to be a contender for the Top 4 Spot. But Jonathan is surely one of the young players to look up to this season.
Hoping for Jonathan to get some game time in the Indian Super League and prove himself worth all expectations.
That’s all about the new signing of the highlanders for now. Wishing him and North East United FC, lot’s of success together, in coming days.
