All terms have been agreed with Former Aizwal FC striker William Lalnunfela to sign for the Highlanders for the forthcoming edition of the Indian Super League. However, NorthEast United is still unsure whether they can seal the deal before the deadline.
If contractual agreements are reached, the Mizoram-born striker will play under Khalid Jamil for the third time. Lalnunfela joined Aizwal FC in 2015 after impressing in the domestic league of Mizoram. He made his debut for the club under Jahar Das against Bengaluru FC in the I-League.
He was a vital member of the 16/17 Aizwal FC side which emerged victorious in the I-League under Khalid Jamil. Jamil left for East Bengal the next season and William made only 6 appearances under Paulo Menezes.
After stints with Mohun Bagan and Aizwal FC, Lalnunfela was snapped up by Jamshedpur FC for the 20/21 campaign of the Indian Super League.
North-East United has gone about their business slowly in the transfer window, unlike other clubs. Their attack will be bolstered by the Mizoram-born Lalnunfela who has a long history of performing well for clubs based in the Northeastern parts of India if the deal is reached before the deadline.
