ISL – NorthEast United FC has secured the services of Moroccan defender Hamza Regragui until 2025

-

NorthEast United FC bolsters their defense with the signing of Moroccan star Hamza Regragui in a 1-year deal until 2025. NorthEast United’s latest statement recruitment comes on the back off a 1-1 draw to FC Goa to end the year 2023.
Following a pretty forgettable season, Juan Benali’s men have made a rocky start to the current campaign, picking up 6 draws, 4 losses, and just 2 wins to sit at 6th halfway through the season. NorthEast United’s defense have been a talking point as they have conceded the third-highest number of goals in the league having shipped 18 goals. The addition of an experienced and skillful defender as Hamza Regragui is sure to excite the Highlanders’ fans about what’s to come.

Hamza Regragui’s football journey started at the Mohammed VI Academy before venturing abroad to Spain’s Málaga CF reserves. While his time there didn’t result in a permanent spot, his return to Moroccan football with RS Berkane became a turning point.

At RS Berkane, Regragui found his stride, becoming a linchpin in their successes. His tenure was sprinkled with triumphs, notably clinching both the Confederation Cup and the Morocco Cup. His standout performances in pivotal matches, like the CAF Super Cup final, showcased his prowess and leadership on the field.

His journey hasn’t been confined to clubs alone; internationally, he’s made notable appearances. Initially preselected for the Olympic Morocco squad and later earning a call-up for the Morocco A team, Regragui displayed his adaptability and skill on the global stage. Now 26 years old, the Moroccan international has accepted a move to showcase his abilities in the Indian Super League.

NorthEast United FC’s signing of Regragui promises a bolstered defense and a wealth of experience. With his track record of triumphs in high-stakes games and commitment to national representation, he brings not just skill but a winning attitude to the Highlanders. As they are about to enter the Super Cup group stages, their fans will hope that their latest recruitment fuels the team with motivation to put up a good fight in the Super Cup.
