ISL – NorthEast United FC signs Kule Mbombo

-

The Highlanders have completed the signing of Congolese striker Kule Mbombo, IFTWC can exclusively confirm.

Kule Mbombo will be replacing the side’s English veteran striker Matt Derbyshire who left the club and signed for England’s League Two side Bradford City earlier this month.

A Brief Information about Kule Mbombo’s Career so far

Born in Kinshasa, Mbombo started his career with a local club in DR Congo called Vita Club. He played there from 2015 and was loaned out to Belgian outfit and record champions RSC Anderlecht from 2016 to 2017. After that, he had a loan spell with another Belgian club called Beershot Antwerpen in the following season.

After his contract expired with his native club in 2018, he signed up for the Slovakian club AS Trencin. Later on, in 2019 he signed for Kazakh Premier League side FC Kaysar and scored 9 goals in 26 appearances. In 2020, he was brought in by the Latvian club Riga FC. Kule continued his good form by scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances.

After impressing and earning plaudits he was roped in by Lithuanian club FK Suduva in 2021 on a short loan spell, where he enjoyed another plethora of goals galore as he managed to score 8 goals in 17 matches.

Later on, in 2021 he signed for UAE-based club Dibba FC but didn’t manage to get any start. For the 2022/23 season, he returned back to his former club in Lithuania, FK Suduva, and has scored 11 more goals in a total of 25 appearances so far.

The Highlanders have without a doubt improved a lot offensively since the signing of Colombian striker Wilmar Jordan who has netted over a couple of goals in the league already and the change in the team’s play is clearly visible since the appointment of the Italian coach Vincenzo Anesse.

NorthEast United FC fans will eagerly hope that the Mbombo – Jordan combo will fire on all cylinders to help turn the tables for them and get some more wins and specifically points in the bag to forget the miseries of what has been a very difficult season for everyone associated with the club.
