Northeast United FC have signed Guinean centre-forward Idrissa Sylla ahead of the 2019-20 season. Sylla’s contract with Belgian club Zulte Waregem was terminated yesterday.
The 29 year old started his career with Ligue 2 side Le Mans. In 2013 he signed for Zulte Waregem and made 38 appearances for them in the Belgian Pro League. He then signed for Anderlecht and played in 27 matches across 2 seasons.
He then signed for Championship side Queen Park Rangers in 2016 and played three seasons for them. In 64 appearances with them, he scored 17 goals. He then returned to Zulte Waregem the next season. He has also represented the Guinea National Football Team.
Idrissa Sylla becomes 6th foreign signing of the Highlanders after Federico Gallego, Dylan Fox, Khassa Camara, Luis Machado and Benjamin Lambot. Gerard Nus has signed players from different areas of the world. It will be interesting to see how things pan out for Northeast United in the upcoming season.
