Odisha FC has officially announced the signing of 34-year-old veteran Moroccan midfielder, Ahmed Jahouh from Mumbai City FC.
Ahmed Jahouh is a familiar name not only to the fans of the clubs he has played for, but also among passionate football fans in India for his ability to exert control over the entire game, displaying dominance in practically every position on the field. The Moroccan midfield maestro has once again teamed up with the Spanish mastermind, Sergio Lobera, this time at Odisha FC.
After winning the Moroccan first-tier league twice with Moghreb Tetouan during his career, Jahouh sought a new adventure outside his home country. His opportunity came when he signed a season-long loan deal with FC Goa in 2017, coinciding with the signing of Sergio Lobera by the club’s management. Lobera had previously coached Jahouh at Moghreb.
Jahouh’s impact was evident from his first season in the Hero Indian Super League, where he became the first-ever Moroccan player to feature in the league’s history. He quickly gained recognition from fans, showcasing his impressive skills and abilities. The management was impressed with his debut season performance and extended his contract for an additional year, solidifying his stay with the club.
During his successful three-season tenure with FC Goa, Jahouh appeared in 56 matches, scoring one goal and providing six assists for the team.
In 2020, Jahouh moved to Mumbai City FC, reuniting him with Sergio Lobera once again. However, their partnership was short-lived as Lobera parted ways with the club in October 2021. Despite the managerial change, Jahouh continued to make an impact, playing 69 matches for Mumbai City FC. During his time at the club, he scored six goals and contributed 16 assists, benefiting from the guidance of both Des Buckingham and Sergio Lobera combined.
It was a forgettable debut for Jahouh at Mumbai City FC in 2020, as he received a straight red card in his first match. However, despite this setback, Jahouh and his team went on to achieve remarkable success. They were crowned League Shield Winners and ultimately emerged as champions of the Indian Super League in Jahouh’s debut season with the club.
Now, the Moroccan finds himself reunited with Sergio Lobera once again, this time at Odisha FC. Their previous collaborations have yielded impressive results, and there is anticipation regarding the impact they will create this season. Juggernauts will eagerly await the performances and achievements that Jahouh and Lobera will bring to Odisha FC in their renewed partnership.
