ISL – Odisha FC set to sign Liston Colaco

-

Liston Colaco, the star forward currently playing for Mohun Bagan is all set to be acquired by Odisha FC.

Liston Colaco rose quickly due to his stellar performance in the under-18 divisions of Salgaocar which drew the attention of FC Goa scouts who snapped him up quickly and he made his ISL debut playing for FC Goa in 2017. His skill and accuracy with the ball were seen when he was acquired by the newly formed Hyderabad FC. Under Hyderabad, he started to come into his own and scored the first goal of his ISL career. Hyderabad recognised his skill and talent which went unnoticed in FC Goa. He enjoyed longer playtime and became integral in Hyderabad FC’s play strategy.

In 2021, ISL history was made when he was acquired by ATK Mohun Bagan after a record-high transfer fee was paid to Hyderabad. As part of the Green and Maroon Brigade and under the watchful eye of Juan Ferrando, Liston grew even further and made the exorbitant transfer fee seem like a steal. In that season he started every match and concluded the season with 8 goals to his name – the highest for an Indian player in that season. He was on everybody’s radar and became a household name for fans of the ISL. In 2021, Liston received the honour of being picked and included in the National Football team.

In the 2022-2023 season of the ISL, he continued to play for ATK Mohun Bagan and was integral in securing 3rd position in the table and emerging victorious in the playoffs. Although he did not have many goals to his name, he was integral as a playmaker and in the creation of opportunities for scoring goals.

Liston Colaco is a young player with a long and successful road ahead of him. The opportunity to play for different clubs would give the room and experience necessary for him to grow and develop as a player. Odisha FC concluded the previous season by ending at the middle of the table. They are looking to end their run of mediocrity and the signature of a player such as Liston would allow them to go a long way in their journey to lifting the ISL trophy should they utilise the talent at their disposal.
