ISL – Owen Coyle returns to Chennaiyin FC as Head Coach

-

Owen Coyle has been appointed as the head coach of Chennaiyin FC on a multi-year contract, IFTWC can confirm.

Coyle returns to Indian Football after a gap of one season to the home of Marina Machans after his stint with Scottish second-division club Queen’s Park FC. Owen is a former ISL shield winner with Jamshedpur FC during the 2021-22 ISL season.

Owen Coyle Chennaiyin FC

Owen came to Indian football during the 2019-20 season as their head coach and made a dream run to the finals of that season’s ISL just losing out to ATK in the last clash. But, the fighting spirit and competitiveness Chennaiyin FC showed on the pitch blew the minds of the whole Indian football fraternity and everyone fell in love with that team Owen Coyle built in Chennaiyin FC.

He then went on to sign with the Red Miners, Jamshedpur FC, where he replicated the wonder season with them by winning the league shield during the second season building a formidable squad with unbreakable defensive force. He left the team the following season to his home country in search of a new project to promote a lower-division club to the top-tier league in Scotland.

With Owen returning back to his former team, Chennaiyin FC is aiming to climb back up and regain their lost glory. If Chennaiyin management can provide the gaffer with proper resources, Owen can be trusted to level up the game quality the Blues were missing for the past few seasons.
